IMAGINING SUSTAINABLE FASHION AWARD

The first international competition for innovative models of communication in sustainable fashion

The competition invites stylists, photographers, designers, illustrators, artists and other creatives to rethink how to communicate the new generation of values of an ethical and sustainable fashion system. An open call and a high profile international jury to create an aesthetic that defines a new ethic

Imagining Sustainable Fashion Award is a collaboration between Connecting Cultures, a non-profit research agency spearheading the Out of Fashion platform, and C.L.A.S.S., the ecohub supporting fashion and textile industry professionals to become more competitive and accountable.

Connecting Cultures and C.L.A.S.S. have joined forces to call on the international community of creatives to identify original solutions. To participate in the competition, send your proposal to info@connectingcultures.info by midnight on 12 January 2021 (additional details can be found on www.connectingcultures.it). Proposals for traditional media such as editorial projects, fashion events, photography and advertising and new digital and phygital projects, from social media campaigns to gaming and even immersive and virtual experiences will all be accepted.

The media partner for the initiative is Renoon, the leading search tool and data hub for sustainable fashion, a rising start-up of the year, aggregating +190 brands offering sustainable options to consumers. On Tuesday, October 6th, 4pm CEST, join the IG live on the profile of Iris Skrami, co-founder of Renoon https://www.instagram.com/irisskrami/ to learn all about the award.

A new generation of values is woven into the clothes we wear every day thanks to emerging artists and designers who believe in a design culture that respects social and environmental responsibility and who know how to integrate sustainability, innovation, and style,” explains Anna Detheridge, Founder and President, Connecting Cultures.

Unfortunately, fashion does not always succeed in communicating these virtuous stories. And as consumers, as an active part of the process, we fail to reward those who really practice responsible fashion,” adds Giusy Bettoni, CEO and founder of C.L.A.S.S.

Imagining Sustainable Fashion is a competition of ideas and creativity, but also a ‘wake up’ call for all those companies that have made investments, have innovated to achieve loftier ethical and responsible goals, but do not communicate them. Simply put: if you live these values and you don’t communicate them, no value will be recognized,” observe Anna Detheridge and Giusy Bettoni.

This is why we have involved visionary companies that have embarked on a responsible path by combining story making with storytelling. The main sponsor of the competition is in fact ROICA™ by Asahi Kasei, a high quality stretch fibre with an innovative range of intelligent functions to satisfy every modern wardrobe need for sports, underwear, and fashion. The company, which has always been committed to promoting responsible innovation, was the first to offer a family of sustainable and certified stretch yarns called ROICA Eco-Smart™, which includes both a certified recycled product, GRS (Global Recycled Standard), and a certified Cradle to Cradle Material Health Gold level.

Supporting the project are also the Greek smart cotton SUPREME GREEN COTTON® by Varvaressos and ECOSENSOR™ by Asahi Kasei, a latest generation fabric collection that promotes responsible innovation with advanced high-tech performance.

The winner who will be announced in March 2021 will receive a cash prize of €3,000.00.
