Fashion Value Life

(ENG) Social responsibility: this is the goal of CREAtiVITÀ – Fashion that creates value in respect of life, an initiative scheduled for April 17th in Milan, organized by ICEA – Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification – and the Hoferlab Cultural Association.

The project includes a conference, as a form of dialogue and discussion between stakeholders, and an artistic performance understood as a symbolic mean between the reality of things and their understanding. The initiative starts from the memory of the victims of the terrible incident that occurred in April 24th workers, mostly women, were killed in the collapse of the manufacturing plant of the Rana Plaza – and calls entrepreneurs in the textile and clothing sector, artists and designers to face and overcome the inherent “limits” of the current production model, which are posed by the unpostponable recognition of social rights and of the carrying capacity of the environment.

This doesn’t mean to harness the creativity and to put production at risk, but to operate in an ethical way grabbing the opportunity to create competitive value by sustaining the vitality of workers and of the communities in which companies are producing, from the conscious use of environmental resources and from taking care of consumers health.

“The conference – says Paolo Foglia, Responsible of ICEA for the textile certification, who will introduce the works – proposes a dialogue among representatives of firms and workers, institutions, non-governmental organizations and policy-makers about the reasons and opportunities for promoting an ethical behaviour of companies, as a strategic mean for creating a competitive value for Italian companies in the textile and clothing sector”.

Two sessions are expected: a round table in the morning (9-13) addressing the role of Corporate Social Responsibility in creating competitive value; an afternoon session (14-17), showing inspiring cases of responsibly-run companies in Italy (detailed program of www.icea.info).

Later on, the theme will be decoded in an artistic and emotional way through the performance “13.6OO HZ – Concert for sewing machines”. A project of Sara Conforti and Hoferlab Cultural Association, in collaboration with urban artist Axe (Alex Ermini): production waves mixing in a electronic musical drone, which arrives in 21 minutes from zero to 13.6OO Hz, the maximum threshold of tolerance before the sound frequency starts to distort all sensory perceptions. A performance that forces us to stop, to inquire, to listen, to choose, to be aware, to be respectful: 13.6OO HZ makes people aware, trying to dissolve ignorance, often useful and convenient, because sometimes “to know” scares.
