FashionRemake with Coca-Cola and Ekocycle™

@Expogate six IED designers choose C.L.A.S.S. for Upcycled & Cool Newlife fashions. From 25th February to 3rd March 2015

A new project at Milan Fashion Week is FashionRemake with Ekocycle™ by Coca Cola, where six new fashion design graduates from the European Institute of Design IED for fashion in Milan will present their eco-sustainable collections at Expogate.

C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity Lifestyle Sustainable Sinergies) with NEWLIFE™  have built the material foundation for this project with the participation of key C.L.A.S.S. manufacturing partners: Borgini for jersey fabrics, Gruppocinque for wovens, Lanfranchi for eco-zips and Miroglio Textile for their E.Volution range of smart textile prints. Newlife comes 100% from post consumer PET bottles that are sourced, mechanically processed and made completely in Italy into high-tech, certified quality yarns to the highest sustainable manufacturing standards. Saving > 90% water, 60% energy, 32% CO2.

Each are supplying their fabrics expertise and speciality using only Newlife™ yarns as the significant recycled quality material. It is the highest quality, no compromise yarn available today made from 100% post consumer recycled bottles, sourced and made in Italy certified in a clean and transparent process that’s both chemical free, and also minimizes water and energy use in a strictly controlled environment.

Sponsored by the Milan Chamber of Fashion the winner Martina Maggiorelli will then be shown at the Coca-Cola Pavillon during Expo Milan 2015. Thirty new designs will be on show from the 25th February through to 3rd March at Expogate.

FashionRemake is a projects conceived by Expo Gate with the collaboration of Istituto Europeo di Design – IED Moda Milano and supported by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana – Italian Fashion Chamber of  Commerce and EcocycleEcocycle™ is an indipendent brand founded by Coca-Cola and international musician will.i.am. It is an initiative created to inform about sustainability aiming to educate and raise consumer awareness to the importance of recycling in everyday life, a project that perfectly aligns with the values of the theme of Expo Milano 2015.

The winner was selected by an authoritative jury composed of: Paola Arosio, Preject Manager young designers of the National Chamber of FashionSara Azzone, Directorate IED Moda Milano; Olivia Spinelli, coordinator three-year courses in Fashion Design, IED Moda Milano; Evguenia Stoichkova, Country Manager Coca Cola; Giusy Bettoni of C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity, Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy); Caroline Corbetta, Curator Art Expo Gate; Andrea Incontri, fashion designer. Martina Maggiorelli has been awarded the FashionRemake Oscar for her excellent interpretation of the World Expo theme”Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.
