Aimed at those studying fashion design, merchandising, product development, production, textiles, brand management and marketing.
This workshop is an introduction to the fashion industry that highlights how it is one of the world’s most polluting industries. Centered in Milan at CLASS Headquarters, participants are introduced to fashion as a major player to the world’s economy and the negative impact it has taken on the environment. An overview of the fashion supply chain is introduced to enable participants to understand where we can start to activate change.
This is an opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of sustainability and a new way of design thinking. The latest innovations in Eco-smart materials and technologies that provide significant reductions in CO2, water and energy are introduced. Participants engage in discussions regarding sustainability and their role as emerging fashion professionals in future fashion systems.
DAY ONE: SUPPLY CHAIN ASSESSMENT
This workshop examines the current apparel and textile supply chain from fiber production through finished garment. Participants are introduced to approaches used to improve the supply chain.
DAY TWO: KEY ISSUES IMPACTING FASHION
An excellent opportunity to learn about the current issues that make the lifecycle of textiles and clothing unsustainable. Participants are asked to assess their brand and determine which issues can be confronted by design.

DAY THREE: BIELLA MILL VISIT
Participants will be taken by private motor coach to Biella an important textile-processing city.
Organic Wool Production – Participants will be given a guided tour of an organic wool mill to understand the steps in organic wool production. They learn first- hand how eco-leaders are improving the supply chain.
“Smart” Cotton Production
In this second mill visit participants discover a new player in eco-smart textiles within the cotton market that sets a new quality standard for smart. Participants learn about a new smarter production cycle.
DAY FOUR: AN INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNICATION
C.L.A.S.S. Education introduces participants to the communication tools needed to add brand value.
